Guide for Completing the Online Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Course (RQF)

The Online Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course (RQF) is essential for those working on construction sites and is a requirement for anyone wishing to apply for a CSCS Green Card. According to CITB regulations, all labourers on construction sites must hold a CSCS Green Card.

The information below is important and must be read and understood before starting the course and sitting the exam.

Step 1: Complete the Course

  • Course Details: The course can be taken on any device with a modern web browser and takes approximately 3-5 hours to complete.

  • Course Completion: After completing the course, you will need to pass a fully accredited exam to obtain your certificate.

  • Note: The course itself does not provide a certificate; only the exam does.

Step 2: Prepare for the Exam

  • Exam Specifications:

    • Photo ID: Ensure you have an in-date photo ID showing your date of birth.

    • Computer Requirements:

      • A Windows or Mac computer (not compatible with mobiles, tablets, or Chromebooks).

      • A modern web browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox (not compatible with Internet Explorer, older versions of Microsoft Edge, or Safari).

      • Video drivers should be up to date.

      • At least 1GB of RAM.

      • A broadband internet connection with at least 3Mb download speed and a steady upload speed of 1.5Mb/sec (5Mb/sec recommended).

Step 3: Take the Online Invigilated Exam

  1. Starting the Exam:

    • Registration Form: Upon opening the exam, you will be presented with a registration form. Enter your details accurately.

    • Name Verification: Check that the spelling of your name matches your ID exactly. If it doesn't, you must contact support to correct it before proceeding, as a mismatch will result in an automatic fail.

    • Device and Connection: The system will check your device and internet connection, ensuring it meets the minimum requirements. It's your responsibility to ensure the connection remains steady throughout the exam.

    • Webcam Check: Ensure your webcam is functioning properly and provides a clear picture. Grant permission for screen and webcam sharing when prompted.

  3. Taking Photos:

    • Photo of Yourself: Ensure your face is well-lit, clearly visible, and within the red circle. Click 'take photo,' then 'next.'

    • Photo of ID: Hold your ID up to the camera, ensuring it fills the frame. Take a photo of both the front and back of the ID. If necessary, you can upload a scanned copy.

  4. Exam Rules:

    • Review the list of exam rules thoroughly, as any violation will result in an automatic fail. Confirm that you have read and understood the rules before proceeding.

  5. The Exam:

    • Duration: You will have 40 minutes to answer 40 multiple-choice questions.

    • Timer: A timer will be displayed on your screen to help you manage your time.

    • Review: After completing the questions, you have the option to review your answers before submitting them. The review process does not exempt you from exam rules.

  6. Submission:

    • After reviewing, click the "Submit" button to complete the exam.

    • A confirmation page will appear, notifying you that your answers have been submitted for review.

Step 4: Await Your Results
